smileyWelcome to St. Matthew Kindergarten!
I am very excited about the upcoming year! The first year of school will be an important one for your child! Kindergarten provides the building blocks for your child's first school years. I know that together we can make it the best year possible!
I absolutely love teaching kindergarten and am looking forward to a wonderful year! Within my classroom you will see a student centered curriculum. My teaching is also strongly focused around my students as I employ a variety of teaching methods. Each child learns in their own way, therefore it is my job to find the best ways to help your child feel and be successful.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact me at lcrawford@stmatt.net Thank you for entrusting your child with me!

Special K Days
Special K Days will be held this year on Friday from 10:30-12:00.
We might be cooking, painting, creating, singing. . . as long as it is fun!
As a Special K Day helper you would be working in the kindergarten classrooms preparing materials,
assisting the children with projects, helping to clean up and of course having fun.
Some of our projects include making apple prints preparing our
Thanksgiving feast/friendship feast, gingerbread houses and famous artists.
Please note that these dates are tentative and could change.

SHOW & TELL

Your child may bring an item for show and tell on her/his snack day.  Please know that weapons of any sort are not acceptable as well as toys that depict death or pain.  There are many items that your child can bring to school that are not toys.  Just put imagination to work!

dairy   muffin      pretzel   fruit

SNACK
Your child is expected to bring a snack to share.  This usually consists of something to eat and drink.  We have 18 students in our classroom.  Snacks should be healthy.  Snacks may be store-bought or homemade.  A half-gallon of drink is usually sufficient.  This can be juice or milk.  Please do not send soda pop.  Make sure that snacks are easy to pass out as we have limited time to prepare snacks.  Please save sugary refreshments for birthday treats.  Some suggestions for snacks are: muffins, pretzels, granola bars, fruit (cut-up), pudding or yogurt cups, cereal mix, graham crackers, crackers, and cheese, etc.  Because of peanut allergies, do not send peanut butter snacks to school until you have checked with me to see if we have any children with this allergy.

Jan snack

cracker  FYI- Many times I do not send home leftover snacks.  I keep them in the classroom to be used for those days when a child does not bring in a snack.  Also, if you do forget a snack, don't worry about it-it happens!  Just send in a bottle of juice or a box of crackers to be stored in the classroom as another way to have snacks for those days when someone forgets snack!
