Welcome to St. Matthew Kindergarten!
I am very excited about the upcoming year and I hope you and your child are feeling the same way! The Kindergarten year is so special. It is filled with wonder and discovery. Through play and hands-on experiences the children are beginning to build a solid foundation for their future school years! My goal as your child’s teacher is to assist you in developing your child’s confidence and positive attitude toward learning.

What a fun filled and busy Catholic Schools Week!
The kids did such a great job in their circus performance! Thank you parents for helping them learn their lines at home and putting together their costumes. We raised over $600 to help our polar region! We will be able to adopt a sub-adult Polar bear (teenager). We contacted Polar Bear International and they will be sending us more information for our donations.
If you have any photos of the class after the performance I would love copies! You can just email them to me. Thanks!
Please note the attachment for the February family project!
In math this week the kids practiced adding, number writing our teen numbers and counting using tally marks and by 5’s and 10’s.
In religion we continue to talk about characteristics of a peaceful kid.
In reading we are flying through sight words…please go ahead and have the kids practice the rest of their booklets.
In science we finished up the Antarctica and will begin our unit on presidents and symbols of the U.S.
Have a great weekend and don’t forget to attend the Winter Carnival Saturday evening!!
Folders
Please check your child’s backpack for this folder. Remove any papers, sign any forms, and please return the folder to your child’s backpack for the next day. This is also the way in which I will communicate with you, so please send me a note if you have any questions or comments and look for notes from me as well.
Snacks
We have a daily morning snack. Your child will be assigned a day in which to bring snack to share for the whole class. Please let me know of any food allergies your son or daughter may have. Please make sure the snack is healthy and easy to pass out. Healthy choices, such as fruit, cheese and veggies are always great. Please make sure the fruit or veggies are washed and cut if need be! Remember that show-n-tell is on your snack day. We have 15 students in our classroom. The snack does not have to be store bought and can be homemade. A half-gallon of drink is sufficient. This can be juice or milk. Please do not send soda pop. You do not need to send cups. Let’s try to save super sugary snacks for birthday treats! Thank you!
