angelWelcome to Life in Room 210!

I am delighted to be working with you, your sons, and daughters this school year. "Our class symbol is an angel... and they are...all 26 of them!" Peace is a big focus in our school this year.  My goal is to prepare students for their high school English classes and for their young adult lives. If they leave St. Matthew as peacemakers who communicate respectfully and effectively, the goal will be met.
Please contact me if I can be of any assistance to you or your student.  I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding school year!

  • Be a responsible speaker and listener.
  • Be reverent in all your actions.
  • Participate in your own learning.
  • Please be in your seat and prepared with proper materials when the tardy bell rings.
  • When an adult is not present in the room, remain seated.
  • Smile!  Be a peacemaker!  Be happy!

It’s May and the virtue of the month is humility.

Important Announcements
Several 7th and 8th grade poems were selected for publication and announcement postcards will be distributed in English classes this week (May 17-19). Please ask your student if he or she is a selected poet. The Creative Communications website must be accessed by May 20 with permission to publish verified by you.
A writers workshop will be offered for students entering grades 8-12 this summer.  All 7th and 8th graders were given a flyer outlining the sessions offered on the University of Illinois campus.  There is an essay writing opportunity for anyone seeking a scholarship stipend to offset the costs of the workshop.  Please see Mrs. Pickard if you are interested.
