Food Drive, Advent Project, Lenten Project
St. Matthew School will once again sponsor "It's all in the Jeans Day" on Friday, October 6, 2011. Students and staff will contribute a $1.00 to wear their blue jeans and a white or pink shirt to school that day. The donations go towards breast cancer research and education in our area. This is a fun way to make a serious difference!
A bake sale will take place October 12-14, 2011 during the three lunch periods. This annual fundraiser is for our student in Tanzania, Africa, Erick Bernard. It is the sixth year that St. Matthew students will raise money to pay for Erick's tuition at St. Peter Claver Catholic School.
Food Drive
St. Matthew School will collect food for two causes this year – the annual Food For Families Drive, which will provide food to the Eastern Illinois Food Bank for distribution to charitable agencies in a 15-county area and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Food will be collected from October 17 to October 28, 2011.
The following kinds of food are needed:
| canned meats |

Lenten Projects 2011
What a generous school community we have! During Lent we:
- Raised $3,450 in one day during the Opening Day fundraiser for the Japan earthquake victims.
- Held a VERY successful food drive to help replenish empty shelves at the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
- Raised approximately $1,000 during Lenten FAST for our sponsored student, Erick’s, orphanage in Tanzania, plus entertained the community with a wonderful music program and artwork.
- Collected alms in the classroom that have not yet been totaled. These will be donated to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George for their missionary efforts.
God bless everyone for your help with these projects!
Japan Earthquake Relief Fundraiser
The Opening Day fundraiser was a phenomenal showing of generosity! We raised $3,450.00 in one day that will be sent to the provincial motherhouse of our school sisters, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George to help with the care of orphaned children. Thank you so much for all your support! God Bless You.
Lenten Alms
St. Matthew School will have collection jars in each classroom for collecting Lenten Alms which will help our school sisters, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George with their missionary efforts in Brazil and elsewhere.
