To Be or not To Be

In Spanish there are two verbs that means our TO BE verb. They are SER and ESTAR.

Look at the differences:

Carmen es de Madrid.

Carmen is from Madrid. Carmen was born in Madrid.

Carmen está en Madrid.

Carmen is in Madrid. Carmen is working or on vacation in Madrid.
