Youth Faith Formation at St. Matthew will have two components: an education program (for grades Preschool through 8) and family Mass and meetings known as Discipleship & Donuts. Both components are required for our program.
Discipleship & Donuts
We will have three family meetings in the fall and three in the spring. They will be at 8:30 am in Feeney Hall with the Family Mass afterwards at 9:30. These are required meetings for the whole family to learn and pray together!
The D&D dates for the 2026-27 school year are:

- October 18
- November 15 (service project)
- January 31
- February 28
- April 18

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS)
For students ages 3-5 in Preschool, Pre-K or Kindergarten, the Youth Faith Formation education program will be Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). CGS is a Montessori style of faith formation that is centered on Sacred Scripture and Liturgy. Presentations and materials used are hands-on. The catechists who work with the children prepare a special environment for the children called the atrium. This program provides children with a space to encounter God and deepen their relationship with Him.
Here are the specifics for the 2026-27 school year:
- CGS sessions will be held on Sunday mornings from 8:00-9:15 am or Thursday mornings from 9:45-11:00 am.
- Students in First Communion preparation (if younger than 3rd grade) will also participate in CGS for their preparation.
2026-27 Youth Faith Formation Registration
As we have limited space, priority will be given to Kindergarten students, students not enrolled in Catholic school, and those who have previously been in the CGS program.

The fee is $50 for the 1st student and a $15 discount for each additional student per family with a maximum of $200 per family.
